Principles of Operation :

The instrument operates on the basis of measurement of dielectric constant. Most of the materials (in dry state) have a low dielectric constant (in the range of 2 to 5) whereas water has a constant of 78. Hence, a small change in the moisture content results in an appreciable change in the overall dielectric constant of the material. The instrument measures this dielectric constant & derives the direct percentage of the moisture from calibration curve stored in the memory.


Instrument Construction :

1. Capacitance cell which accepts the sample container. Each measurement procedure involves the null& read type operation which ensures drift free readings.

2) Microcontroller unit which runs the measurement & derivation of moisture 99 types of calibration curves can be stored.
